About
the Drive
To
accomplish these objectives, the Westville History Alive Drive has been
organized.
The
goal is a $8 million from private sources, to be used to:
- Construct
a Visitors Center to improve programming and amenities for visitors
- Improve
conservation practices and care for all objects in the collection
- Install
a slave house, a millhouse, and millpnd in the Village and develop interpretation
for each location
- Open
and interpret several existing Village buildings currently only viewable
from the outside
- Enhance
accessibility to all buildings without disrupting the Westville ethos
- Offer
additional basic services, such as water fountains, restrooms, and minimal
climate control that will help lengthen the visitor's stay
- Purchase
contiguous lands to be used as a buffer between the historic Village
and the modern world
- Upgrade
staff salaries and benefits, allowing Westville to attract and maintain
superior employees
- Advance
the Westville organization to a new level operationally, professionally,
and artistically by increasing the endowment.
"We
served on Westville's Board during its earliest days in the 1960s and
still consider it to be a national treasure. We hope you will support
the campaign to make Westville even stronger."
